The Western actor's gravel-and-honey voice reminds voters what's at stake on the range and elsewhere.
"I said some things that hurt people and I feel terrible about that," the actor said after going on a rant in February against the movie's "allusions to homosexuality.
"He's not a cowboy; he's an actor" and a bit of a "B-I-T-C-H" Campion said of Elliott's complaints the Western wasn't filmed in the U.S. and was too gay.
The Oscar nominee suggested Elliott's reaction was indicative of the "massive intolerance within the world" toward the LGBTQ community.
