Two bears, a male and a female, are expected to arrive by the end of summer, about five years after the zoo sent its last pandas back to China.
Rat reps at three U.S. zoos are showing visitors how the rodents can be trained to combat wildlife trafficking, detect diseases and perform other useful tasks.
The 4-year-old penguin named Lucas has lesions on his feet due to a chronic condition known as bumblefoot, which covers a range of avian foot problems.
His name is Meatball.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
The puppet, named Percy, has a circumference of nearly 40 feet (12 meters), and has 2,000 foam quills that it took a house-worth of paint to put stripes on.
The 9-year-old male named Ramil tested positive for the virus after he had a cough and runny nose. Its unclear how he got infected, the zoo said.
The father dropped his daughter as he raced away. He's later arrested.
The 25-year-old dropped his young daughter when the elephant seemed like it wanted to charge at them, said police.
The experimental shots were developed specifically for animals and delivered after eight gorillas at the zoo tested positive for the coronavirus in January.
It appears the infection came from a member of the parks wildlife care team who also tested positive for the virus.
