The jeans were pulled from a sunken trunk at an 1857 shipwreck off the coast of North Carolina.

WHAT'S HAPPENING
Historians uncovered the remains of a ship in Lake Superior nearly 120 years to the day after it sank during a storm.
The ship was lost in a storm in 1902.
Volunteers found more than 20 pieces of wood in a coastal Oregon cave that might have belonged to a Spanish galleon that sank in 1693.
The ship is in nearly pristine condition at a depth of almost 2 miles.
Explorers have found the long-lost wreck of the SS Cotopaxi, which disappeared in 1925.
The iron scow has been lodged near the top of Horseshoe Falls since 1918.
