Michael Bublis set to undergo vocal cord surgery, forcing the award-winning Canadian crooner to withdraw from several high-profile events in the coming weeks.

The Burnaby, B.C. singerposted a letter to fans via social media on Wednesday sharing the news.

The surgery "will require a period of time for me to rest and recover. No talking or singing for awhile but my doctors expect a complete recovery," he said via Twitter.

Bubl had been set to receive theNational Arts Centre Award at the upcoming Governor General's Performing Arts Awards in Ottawa in June. His presentation will be moved to 2017, he noted.

"We look forward to welcoming him to Ottawa with his family in 2017 to receive the NAC Award,"PeterHerrndorf, the president and CEO of the National Arts Centre, saidin a statement Wednesday afternoon.

Bubl will now be celebrated during the 25th anniversary edition of the gala on June29th, 2017, according to the NAC.

A Juno and Grammy Award-winner,Bubl has sold more than50million records and performed for millions around the globe.
