Police in Mission, B.C. are asking for information from the public about a man who may have had unprotected sex with several partners without disclosing he is HIV positive.

BrianCarlisle, 47,was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault after a lengthy investigation by RCMP. He appeared in court on Thursday and is out on bail until his next court appearance.

However, the investigation is ongoing, and it's believed the offensesoccurred in Mission, Abbotsford, Coquitlam and Burnaby, and thatCarlisle may have lived in Ontario, Manitoba, New Brunswick and the state of Vermont.

Police are hoping to speak with any of Carlisle's partners to assist in their investigation.

Public interest weighed

"Normally the RCMP would not disclose the medical status of a person charged with a criminal offence. However, in this case, after careful consideration, the public interest clearly outweighs the invasion of Mr. Carlisle'sprivacy," said Mission RCMP.

Carlisle, who lives in Abbotsford,is described as 220 pounds, six feettwo inches, with blue eyes and short brown hair.

As part of his bail conditions, Carlisle must avoidonline social networks or dating networks. Carlisle must also advise any potential sex partner of his HIV status.

Anyone with information that could help investigatorsis asked to contact Mission RCMP at 604-814-1644, or if they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at1-888-222-8477.
