Kevin Spooner, Vancouver Island junior hockey owner, charged with assault

A B.C. junior hockey owner has been charged with assault, just a year after a judge ordered him to keep the peace and stay away from the owners of a rival team in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League.

In January 2015, Kevin Spooner, owner of the Campbell River Storm, was found to have intimidated Marsha and Dave Webb, owners of the neighbouring Comox Valley Glacier Kings, by shouting profanities and behaving aggressively.

Spooner has now been charged with assault causing bodily harm. There are no details as yet surrounding the circumstances of the charge.

A statement from the Campbell River Storm says the team is aware of the allegations against Spoonerbut cannot comment further on a current legal issue.

"We would like to assure everyone that we hold the highest level of conduct within our organization and have taken positive measures moving forward," the statement reads.
