RCMP searching for suspect in racist tirade at B.C. drive-thru

RCMP are asking for the public's help to identify a suspectaccused of launching into a racist tirade at a drive-thru in Richmond, B.C., earlier this month.

UPDATE May 20, 2021: The suspect accused in the incident described belowwill not be criminally charged, according to RCMP. Police said the suspect and the victim agreed on an alternative measure, which is a judicial processthat allows for resolution outside of the courts.

RCMP are asking for the public's help to identify a suspectaccused of launching into a racist tirade at a drive-thru in Richmond, B.C., earlier this month.

Police said the man was standing near the drive-thru window at a Burger King on May 1 when he approached a family sitting in their SUV and started yelling at them.

A witness came forward to RCMP two days later, after threevideos of the incident were posted on Reddit.

"It was reported that this male was making racial comments and may have threatened someone at the same time," said RCMP Cpl. Ian Henderson.

"We're still looking to identify this man and we would like to speak to him ...It is unacceptable behaviour."

RCMP want to identify a suspect accused of yelling at a family at a drive-thru restaurant earlier this month.

The three videos capture a man walking and shouting inthe drive-thru, removing a blue face mask to yell at the person behind the camera.

"He wasn't in a vehicle, he was standing there and he was approaching vehicles in the drive-thru which, in itself, is a rather bizarre behaviour," said Henderson.

The suspect is described as white, five feet six inches tall, with a heavy build and short grey hair. He had a partial beard and wore a grey, long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and black-framed glasses.

Police said the incident was not reported to police prior to the videos appearing online and officers have not been able to locate the suspect.
