Second Liberal MLA quits Christy Clark government

A second Liberal MLA has quit the government of B.C. Premier Christy Clark.

Iain Black, who was not named tocabinet after she became premier, will leave government to take a job as chief executive officer of the Vancouver Board of Trade, Clark said in Vancouver Wednesday.

Black, who was first elected in 2005, had previously served as minister in the portfolios of labour and small business.

Clark shifted him to parliamentary secretary for public transportation after she was sworn in as premier in March.

Last Thursday, longtime MLA Barry Penner quit as attorney general, saying he didn't plan to run in the next election and wanted to spend more time with his wife and baby daughter.

Liberal MLAs have been asked to fill in their nomination papers in advance of a provincial election, which isn't due until 2013, but Clark has said she may go to the polls earlier.
