72-year-old man dies after being hit by vehicle in Airdrie

The victim, a resident of Airdrie, sustained life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 2, near Edmonton Trail N.E.

Airdrie RCMP say oneman is dead after he washit by a vehicle earlySunday morning.

The 72-year-old victimwas a resident of the community just north of Calgary.

He sustained life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 2, near Edmonton Trail N.E.

RCMP said officers and EMS personelresponded to a report of the collision at approximately 1:05 a.m. on Sept. 8.

The man was taken to a Calgary hospitalbut later died, according to the RCMPnews release.

Investigatorssaid the driver of the vehicle and four passengers were not injured.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, officials say. RCMP are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have camerafootage of the incident, to come forward.
