Alberta's warm winter prompts '5th season' name ideas

With an uncharacteristically warm winter in Alberta, could it be time to consider naming the "fifth season" we're experiencing?

'Hollywood would love a 'Godzilla El Nino meeting the Pacific Blob.' It sounds like a horror movie.'

With an uncharacteristically warm winter in Alberta, could it be timeto consider naming the"fifth season" we're experiencing?

Alberta boasted the warmest temperature in Canada today around 12:30 p.m.with a balmy13 C in Pincher Creek, according to Environment Canada's senior climatologistDave Phillips.

On Tuesday Calgary surpassed a 90-year-old weather record to set a new high for the day.

CBC'sAlberta at Noonchallenged Phillipsto come up with a name for thisunusual weather season.

"I'm not as creative as your listeners. Something like pineapple winter?" he said.

He then jokedthat"Hollywood would love a 'Godzilla El Nino meeting the Pacific Blob.'It sounds like a horror movie."

"I'm sure there's some kind of contraction that your listeners could suggest out of that," he said, throwing it to the audience to chime in.
