Body found in pond next to Stoney Trail

A body was found in a pond in northeast Calgary on Thursday afternoon.

A body was found in a largepond in the northeast Calgary community ofAbbeydaleThursday afternoon.

Police say it's a man in hislate teens or early 20s. They are working to confirm his identity.

The pond sits next to StoneyTrail. The exit from eastbound16thAvenueN.E. to southbound Stoney Trail wasclosed to traffic while police investigated.

A passerby saw the bodyand called 911.TheCalgary Fire Departmentthen deployed itswater rescueteam, said spokespersonCarolHenke.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
