Boy on bike struck by van in Castleridge recovering in hospital
Witnesses says child struck by van at northeast intersection Thursday evening was thrown several metres
A 12-year-old boy who was struck by a van while riding his bicycle Thursday evening in Castleridge is recovering in hospital, police say.
EMS responded to the intersection of CastleridgeBoulevardand Westwinds Drive N.E. just after 6:30 p.m.

The boywas taken to theAlberta Children's Hospital inserious, life-threatening condition with possible head injuries.
On Friday morning, police told CBC News the boy's condition has been upgraded to stable
A witness said hewas crossing the road to join his sisters on the other side when the collision happened.
Reginald Reddy says the driver of the van, an older man, attempted to stop.
"He tried to stop but it was too late," Reddy said."The boy flew about five to six metres and hit his head on the road.A lot of people tried to help."
EMS says there were no other injuries at the scene.
Police are still investigating.
