Calgary Metal Recycling plant fire extinguished

There has been another fire at a metal recycling plant in southeast Calgary. No one was injured and the fire is now out.

There hasbeen another fire at a metal recycling plant in southeast Calgary.

Crews were called to to the metal recycling plant on Ogden Road shortly before 4 a.m. (CBC)

Crews were called to Calgary Metal Recycling in the 3400block of Ogden Road shortly before 4 a.m.

No one was injured and the fire is now out.

In 2012,crews battled another fire at this facility for two weeks.In that case, a heap of scraps known as "auto fluff" started burning.

The company pleaded guilty to some Alberta Fire Codeoffencesand was ordered to pay just over $17,000 in fines, saidfire department spokeswomanCarol Henke.

Smoke from the fire in 2012 can be seen from a pile of scrap metal. The fire smouldered for weeks, causing air quality concerns. (CBC)
