Police release images of 3 men linked to possible hate crime against drag king

Calgary police have released images of three men wanted in connection with what they say was a hate-motivated incident against an LGBTQ Calgarian.

The incident occurred on Aug. 1 around 1 p.m. A drag king was recording a video on the rainbow crosswalk at the intersection of Centre Street and Stephen Avenuewhen a man spat on the performance artist.

Police say they are looking for the three men captured on camera in relation to the incident.

The incident was one of three hate-motivated crimes police identified and are investigating that took place on the August longweekend.

In another, a manwas assaulted and called homophobic slurs by a group of men near the intersection of17th Avenue and 12th Street S.W., police said.

In the third,a same-sex couple was walking near the intersection of Ninth Street and Memorial Drive N.W. when two men and two women on electric scooters approached them. Police said it's believed the two men on scooters assaulted the couple because of their sexual orientation, using a belt, rocks and a recycling bin as weapons.
