Calgary pet owners can now apply for licences online

Renewing or obtaining a licence for your furry friends just got easier, thanks to the City of Calgary's new online animal services website launched Monday.

According to the city, Calgary has the highest rate of return to owner for lost pets in North America

Renewing or obtaining a licence for your furry friends just got easier, thanks to the City of Calgary's new online animal services website launched Monday, National Pet Day.

The online portaloffers owners the ability to manage their licences entirely online, with different payment methods and the ability to sign up for automatic renewals.

"Apet's licence is their ticket home if they ever become lost,andwe want to make it as easy as possible to reunite thepetwith their owner,"saidRyan Jestin, director of Calgary Community Standards, in a release.

The new site allows owners to:

  • purchase or renew a pet licence
  • modify an existing pet licence
  • pay byInterac
  • order a replacement pet tag
  • receive reminders about renewal dates by email
  • sign up for automatic renewal payments
  • update contact information

Pet licensing fees range from $17 to $260 and areused to shelter and feed lost dogs and cats, educate the public about responsiblepetownership, and reunite lost cats and dogs with their owners.

You can also obtain a licence by calling 311 or by visiting the Animal Services Centre.
