Driver ticketed for taking photos of fatal crash scene
RCMP investigating single-vehicle collision near Elkwater, Alta., that killed a 46-year-old motorist
A 46-year-old man from Medicine Hat, Alta., was killed Thursday morning after he failed to negotiate a curve on a rural highway.
Mounties say the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
They also reminded motorists about distracted driving after a person took photographs of the crash scene while driving by.
That driver was ticketed by police.
"It is illegal, unsafe and disrespectful when driving through a collision scene to be taking photographs of a scene under investigation," RedcliffRCMP said in a release.
The single-vehicle crash happened on Highway 41 about five kilometressouth of Elkwater shortly after 6:30 a.m., police said.
Elkwater is about 360 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
