Police seize $300,000 worth of meth, fentanyl and cocaine in Calgary drug bust

Alberta police have arrested three people in a drug bust that netted a large stash of methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine worth an estimated $300,000 from a home in southeast Calgary.

UPDATE:Initially, three people were arrested followingthe police investigation. Since then,Anny Vo's charges were stayed,Leslie Ma was convicted of drug trafficking and served a six-year sentence, andVincent Ma was convicted of possession for the purpose of trafficking and handed a three-year sentence.


Alberta police have arrested three people in a drug bust thatnetted a large stash of methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaineworth an estimated $300,000from a home in southeast Calgary.

The Riverbend home was searched Nov. 13 following an investigation by the Calgary unit of Alberta's organized crime investigation agency, ALERT, with help from Calgary and Medicine Hat police services.

The drug stash included 1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine; 1.2 kilograms of cocaine; 255 grams of fentanyl and 28 kilograms of a cocaine buffing agent.

Police also seized a loaded, sawed-off shotgun and $42,887 in cash. The shotgun's serial number had been defaced police will submit it for forensic testing to see if it is linked to any other crimes.

"ALERT will continue to work in tandem with our policing partners to tackle organized crimeand their complacency in harming our communities with opioids and meth," said Sgt. Matthew Pumphrey of ALERT Calgary.

Leslie Ma, 27, Vincent Ma, 36, and Anny Vo, 26, were arrested, They're facing 38 drug- and firearm-related offences.

The provincial government established Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) in 2006. The teams are made up of police officers from Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and the RCMP.
