Driver killed, passenger critically injured in southeast Calgary crash

Paramedics say one person was killed and another was critically injured in a collision between a car and pickup truck in southeast Calgary on Wednesday afternoon.

Paramedics say one person was killed and another was critically injured in a collision between a car and pickup truck in southeast Calgary on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 12:20 p.m. near the intersection of 128thAvenue and 46thStreetS.E., an EMS spokesman said.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger in the car, also in her 20s,wasrushed to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

The driver of the pickup truck, a man in his 30s, suffered less severe injuries but was also taken to hospital for evaluation.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision but said there is no indication it involves road rage.

"What we're asking is anybody who may have seen a dark-coloured pickup truck travelling northbound along 46th Street [S.E.] in the moments leading up to the collision who hasn't come forward to please come forward and assist us," said Sgt. Colin Foster, head of the collision reconstruction unit.
