QuikSnax Calgary satisfies munchies with late-night junk food delivery

Calgarians yearning for a midnight Big Mac no longer need to leave the comfort of their homes.

Snacks are now being delivered to people's doors thanks to a university student on a mission to fight the eveningmunchies.

"I feel like if I wasn't running this service I'd be using it myself," said Zack Shapiro, owner of QuikSnax Calgary.

When he's not studying economics at the University of Calgary, the 21-year-old spendshis Friday and Saturday nights in drive-thrus and picking up orders fromTubby Dog, Chicken on the Wayand convenience stores.

Shapiro says ketchup chips are the most popular request, followed by McDonald's, Pizza Pops, liquorice and chocolate bars.

You pay the cost of your snacks plus a delivery fee, which is calculated based on your distance from downtown Calgary.

It's $5 for the first five kilometres and $10 for the first 15 kilometres.After that you pay 50 cents per kilometre.

Shapiro says he has clients of all ages.

"I've had a fair number teenagers who I think are too young to drive. I've had some older, middle-aged people."

"I think, probably, the unifying theme is it's fairly late and they're a little tipsy."

QuikSnax delivers Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
