RCMP in Airdrie are asking for the public's help in locating a man who has been missing since Sept. 6 when he was supposed to return from a solo camping trip.

Jordan Darda, 20, told friends and family he would camp in Jasper National Park and return after the long weekend, police said. He has not been heard from since he sent a text message on Sept. 5.

Darda is an experienced camper and knows the area. But he was not equipped to be away this long or in this weather, police said.

"Jordan, if you see this, please come home," said Darlene Darda, Jordan's mother, as she fought back tears at an RCMP press conference about the investigation.

Darda is Caucasian, about five feet eight inches tall, 134 pounds and has a slight build.Hehas brown hair and hazel eyes.

He was driving a black, 2000 Ford Ranger pickup truck with grey cloth seats. It has a white "Dakine" sticker in the back window.

Anyone who has seen Darda or his vehicle is asked to call Airdrie RCMP or Crime Stoppers. Foul play is not suspected at this point in the investigation, police said.
