Man accused of killing younger brother in argument in northeast Calgary

A Calgary man faces a second-degree murder charge after an argument with his younger brother escalated out of control at a home in the northeast Calgary community of Rundle, police say.

A Calgary man faces a second-degree murder charge after an argument with his younger brother escalated out of control at a home in the northeast Calgary community of Rundle, police say.

Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Rundelhorn Terrace N.E. at about 1 a.m. Thursday for reports of a man in medical distress.

EMS crews declared the man dead when they arrived.

Police initially described the incident as a "domestic," later giving an update to say a 34-year-old man was accused of killing his 29-year-old brother.

"It is alleged a verbal argument between the siblings escalated to a physical altercation, whereby the younger brother received fatal injuries," the Calgary Police Service said in a release early Thursday afternoon.

An autopsy was underway Thursday.

Police said they would identify the victim once the autopsy was complete and next of kin notified.

The accused remainsin custody with a second-degree murder charge pending, police said in the release.

He'll be identified once he has seen a justice of the peace.
