WinSport suspends season pass sales, citing unprecedented demand

WinSport says it is suspending the sale of season passes for the Canada Olympic Park ski hill for the upcoming season.

Unprecedenteddemand meant the facility had to cut off sales in order to make sure physical distancing could be maintained on the hill, saidDaleOviatt, senior manager of communications forWinSport.

"It's been an extraordinary fall here, and we've seen high demand for season passes," Oviatt said.

"We've had to put a pause on future pass sales until we get closer to the Nov. 27 opening date."

Oviatt said the facility will then make a judgment call on the numbers of people on the hill once the season does get underway, at which point it may sell more season passes.

"Right now, at this point, we're starting a waiting list," Oviatt said. "We'll pause on those passes until Nov. 27."

WinSportis encouraging guests use their car as a hub to get dressed and get ready before heading to the hill so as to minimize the number of people congregating at the day lodge.

"This is all new, and it's something we're all just trying to figure out," Oviatt said. "We know WinSport and the industry is going to have to play a key role as people come out of this, both physically and mentally."

Day tickets will not be released until the season begins on Nov. 27.
