Garth Brooks sells 51,000 tickets for Edmonton shows
Edmonton's got it bad for Garth Brooks
Garth Brooks has friends in low placesand thousands of fans in Edmonton.
The country music superstar has broken his ticket sales record in Alberta's capital city.
In less than an hour Friday morning,Brooks sold more than 51,000 tickets for his upcoming concerts at Rogers Place.
Brooks announced last week he is bringing his world tour with his wife and fellow musician Trisha Yearwood to Rogers Place in February.
Soon after tickets went on sale Friday, additional Edmonton dates were added to the roster.
Brooks will now be playing five shows in three daysat the new downtown arena, including two matinees.

- Saturday, Feb. 18,7 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb.19, 3 p.m.

It's the first time Brooks has played in Edmonton in 21 years.
In 1996, he sold 50,871 tickets for a series of concerts Aug. 10- 12 at Northlands Coliseum.
Tickets for Brooks' upcoming visit to Edmonton went on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
