Pedestrian killed in early morning collision

A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehiclewest of downtown earlyTuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in the area of Jasper Avenue and 115th Street in Oliver at about 1 a.m., a police spokesperson saidTuesday.

Police identified the victimas a man but a family member who later contactedCBC News said the victim identified as female and was 65 years old.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital and later died of herinjuries.

The major collision unit is investigating, police said.
