Serving up Indigenous food and representation
How Bernadettes is bringing a different definition of Indigenous food to Edmonton
Scott Iserhoff and his wife Svitlana Kravchuk always knew they wanted to share food and stories, but they never expected to have an Indigenous restaurant in the heart of downtown Edmonton.
The pair, who previously ownedfood and education company Pei Pei Chei Ow, opened Bernadette's this spring.
The fine dining restaurant made it onto the long list for Air Canada's Best New Restaurants after just four months.
Iserhoff and Kravchuk sat down with This is Edmonton host Clare Bonnyman to talk about who Bernadette's is named for, and the important of expanding what we think of when we say "Indigenous cuisine."
