Walterdale Bridge takes one giant step towards completion

Tuesdaywas a big day for the new Walterdale Bridge.

Actually, it was colossalbecause the first of two arches was lifted into place.

The white arch segment weighs 950 tonnes and will be bolted to larger segments of the sprawling span.

The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of 2016.
