Hamilton police warn of series of Mountain sex assaults

Hamilton police believe six assaults on the Central Mountain over the past four months are connected.

Hamilton police say six sexual assaults that occurred between mid-October and this past weekend are likely related.

Four of the incidents happened on or near Terrace Drive, which is located between Mohawk Road and Fennell Ave. The suspect in all six is described as a tall white male between 18 and 22 years old, with a thin build. He is estimated to be between 6 and 65 tall and typically wearsa dark-coloured,hooded sweat shirt and dark colour pants. In several of the incidents he is describedas having a dark backpack.

In most of the incidents, the perpetrator approaches the victims from behind and slaps or grabs the victim's buttocks.Hamilton Police believe there are witnesses in the area of some of the attacks who mighthave seen the suspect.

The most recent incident occurred Sunday night in the central Mountain area around Terrace Drive. The male grabbed his victim's thigh and she fought him off.

The first of the six incidentsoccurred onOct.15, in the area ofWembly Street at West 5th at about 10:45 pm. The man ran away.

The next was 8 days later onMcElroy at Warren Avenue, when an unknown male suspect approachedhis victimfrom behind and slapped her buttocks. The suspect ran away.

A woman walking her dog at around 10 p.m. was the next victim betweenOct.27 and Nov. 3. This attack occurredin the area of Terrace Drive and Southbend Avenue. Again, the attacker ran away.

A second attack on Terrace Drive occurred onNov.30, and a third on Dec. 2.

That was the last until the one this weekend.
