Waterloo region logs 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday

Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, with no new deaths linked to the virus.

There are 13 people with COVID-19 in the region's 3 hospitals

Region of Waterloo Public Health reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, with no new deaths linked to the virus.

The new numbers bring the total number of cases over the course of the pandemic to 18,808, with 18,378 recoveries.

There are currently 138 active cases of COVID-19 in Waterloo region.

The total number of COVID-related deaths remained at 288.

There were 13 people infectious with COVID-19 in the region's three hospitals, down by one in the last 24 hours. There were seven people in the intensive care unit. People in the ICU may not be infectious with COVID-19 anymore, but they do still require specialized care.

There were six active outbreaks in the region:

  • Two in child care: One at a home child care centre with two cases, one at Rising Oaks Early Learning with two cases.

  • One at Nazarene Christian Congregation in Kitchener with 30 cases.

  • One at a food processor with 10 cases.

  • One at Conestoga Lodge retirement home with eight cases: One in a staff member, seven in non-staff members.

  • One at a security firm with two cases.
