People aged 60 to 79 can preregister for COVID-19 vaccine through Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health

People ages 60 to 79 can now pre-register to receive the vaccine as Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph prepares to roll out Phase 2 of Ontarios vaccination plan. Officials advise it could take people in Phase 2 between four to six weeks to get their first dose.

People between the ages of 60 to 79 can now pre-register online to get vaccinated as Wellington-Dufferin-GuelphPublic Health prepares to enter Phase 2 of Ontario's vaccination plan.

"As the vaccine supply expands, we continue to focus on vaccinating Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph against COVID-19 as quickly as possible," Dr. Nicola Mercer, medical officer of health and CEO of WDG Public Health, said in a release Wednesday.

"The province's rapid distribution of vaccines across Ontario has facilitated the progress we are seeing in protecting the most vulnerable residents of our region."

Essential workers who cannot work from home including teachers, police, firefighters, food manufacturing workers, staff in congregate settings,residents living in congregate settingsand their primary caregivers, people with select health condition and essential caregivers for those with highest-risk health conditions are also eligible to pre-register online.

On its website, WDG Public Health said it may take four to sixweeks to get anappointment.

People 80 years and olderand those who were part of Phase 1 can still pre-register as well, public health added.

Those having issues pre-registering online can call1-844-780-0202 for help.

"Call volumes are high, so individuals using the help line should be aware that it could take several days to receive a response," public health said.
