Suspect in Talbot Avenue hit-and-run turns himself in

A Winnipeg driver suspected in a hit-and-run that sent a man to hospital in critical condition on the weekend hasturned himself in.

Winnipeg police said Wednesday morning the37-year-old man showed up at police headquarters to turn himself in.

Police had been searching for a suspect in connection with thehit-and-run crash Sunday after bystanders found a 43-year-old man injured at the intersection of Talbot Avenue and PanetRoad around 1:45 a.m.

Emergency crews rushed the manto hospital in critical condition, wherehe remainedas of Tuesday.

PanetRoad was cordoned off for hours on Sunday as police investigated the scene of the crash.

A search ensued for a newer-model Dodge Grand Caravan with damage to the front-end passenger side, andon Wednesday police announced they had made an arrest.

The man has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily harm, driving carelessly and driving while disqualified.
