Stony Mountain Institution inmate escapes in Winnipeg, gets recaptured

An inmate whoescaped from Stony Mountain Institutionis back in custody.

The man got away during a medical escorted temporary absence in Winnipeg on Dec. 31 around 2:58 p.m., according to a press release issued byCorrectional Service Canada (CSC).

Winnipeg police were notified and they put out a warrant for his arrest immediately.

The inmate was caught by police around 4:40 p.m. and officers are conducting a joint investigation with CSC to determine how the escape took place.
