- Quebec reported 1,102 new cases of COVID-19 and 22 more deaths on Friday, four of which occurred in the last 24 hours, 13 between Oct. 2-7, one prior to Oct. 1, and four with unknown dates. Another death was removed from the total because it was no longer deemed related to COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 84,094 confirmed cases and 5,936 people have died.

Premier Franois Legaultsaid Fridaythe situation, while still worrisome, appears to have stabilized in recent days thanksto people reducing their contacts.
He stressed, once again, that people shouldn't have big dinners on the Thanksgiving long weekend.
"Stay home with the peopleyoulivewith. Resist the temptation to see your friends and family," he said.
"I am counting on each and every one of you."
Legault said keeping schools open and protecting the health-care system from further strain remainthe top priorities.
Nearly allmunicipalitiesbetween the Montreal region and the Quebec City area along the St. Lawrence river have been designated red zones.

Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:
- Wash your hands frequently.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Wear a mask or face coveringwhen physical distancing is not possible. Wearing a mask is mandatory in enclosed public spaces across the province.
- Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
- Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
