Head wounds keep Dawson shooting victim in hospital

Only one victim from the Sept. 13 shooting at Dawson college remains in hospital Friday, more than two weeks after the attack.

Thevictim, who sustained bullet wounds to the head,remains in intensive care in stable condition, said Seeta Ramdass, a spokeswoman for Montreal General Hospital.

Kimveer Gill opened fire on students during their lunch hour, killing Anastasia De Sousa and wounding 19 others before turning the gun on himself.

Gill's victimswere rushed to several hospitals, including Montreal General, Jewish General and Jean-Talon hospitals, which had issuedorange codes the highest level of emergency response preparation to receive them.

Fourteen were admitted to hospital with gunshot wounds 11 at the General, two at the Jewish General and one at Jean-Talon.

A fifteenth victim was treated at the Jewish General as an outpatient for a sprained ankle she sustained while fleeing the shooting, said Glenn Nashen, director of communications at the hospital.

The remainder of the victims were treated as outpatients.

An 18-year-old woman, who underwent surgery at the Jewish General for a bullet wound to her leg, left the hospital on the weekend of Sept. 23. She is expected to make a full recovery.
