Sam Hamad did nothing wrong in Premier Tech case, auditor general finds

Quebec's auditor general has found Sam Hamad did nothing wrong in connection with an environmental technology company and adisgraced Liberal fundraiser who now faces corruption charges.

Hamadstepped down from his post as Treasury Board presidentin April followingallegationsof conflict of interest.

In March,Radio-Canada'sEnqutereportedthat hewas a source of strategic information for Ct when he was the vice-chairman of the board at thefirm Premier Tech,helping to advance the company's agenda with the formerCharest government.

Auditor GeneralGuylaineLeclercis due to release a report into the matter on Thursday, but Radio-Canada has confirmed she found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Hamadwasthe minister of labour and theneconomic development under formerpremier Jean Charest.

There are stilltwo outstanding investigationsinto Hamad'sinvolvement with Premier Techone by the province'sethics commissioner and another by itschief electoral officer.

Ctwas arrested in March, along withformer Liberal deputy premier NathalieNormandeau, on corruption and fraud charges.
