Dennis Oland jury signals return to courtroom

The jury in Dennis Oland's second-degree murder trial in Saint John, N.B., has asked to return to the courtroom.

It is not known if the jury of eight men and four womenhas reached a verdict in bludgeoning death of Richard Oland, the father of the accused and a multimillionaire Saint John businessman in 2011.

The jury may want to ask a question of the judge, could ask to rehear some testimony, or have some other matter it wishes to raise.

Dennis Oland,was the last known person to see his father alive before the 69-year-old was found bludgeoned to death and lying face down in a pool of his blood in his Saint John office on July 7, 2011.

The second-degree murder trial began in September. The jury retired to begin its deliberations about 3:30 p.m. onWednesday, which was the 50th day of the trial, and had deliberated for a total of about 28 hours as it resumed its deliberations on Saturday.
