N.B. COVID-19 roundup: 11 new cases; Horizon Health holds its largest vaccination clinic yet

Public Health has confirmed 11 new cases of COVID-19 In the province on Sunday.

All new cases are located in New Brunswick and are self-isolating.

Moncton region (Zone 1)2 cases:

• A person 20-29.
• A person 60-69.

One case is a contact of a known case while the other is under investigation.

Saint John region (Zone 2)1 case:

• A person 40-49.

The case is under investigation.

Fredericton region (Zone 3)4 cases:

• A person 19 and under.
• A person 20-29.
• A person 30-39.
• A person 70-79.

Two of the cases are contacts of previously known cases, one is travel-related and one is under investigation.

Bathurst region (Zone 6)4 cases:

• Two people 20-29.
• Two people 30-39.

Two of the cases are travel-related and two are under investigation.

There were eight recoveries on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases to 116.

Eleven people are in hospital because of the virus, seven in the province. Three people, two in the province, are in intensive care.

New Brunswick has had 2,063 total cases of COVID-19 with 1,905 recoveries and 41 deaths.

A total of 1,378 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Saturday to bringthe testing total to 313,988.

So far, 322,616 have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

On Saturday, Horizon Health held itslargest vaccination clinic so far. Over 2,300 people showed up in Saint John to get a vaccine.

New public exposures

Public Health has also identified a new public exposure in Fredericton.

• Hilton Garden Inn Hotel and the Pickle Jar Restaurant, 620 Queen St., from Tuesday, May 11 to Sunday, May 16.

The province has also listed another flight with a passenger who has tested positive for COVID-19 on May 7.

• Air Canada Flight 318 from Calgary to Montreal, departed at 11 a.m.

Public Health is offering COVID-19 testing to anyone who has been in a public exposure area, even it they're not experiencing any symptoms. Residents may request a test online or call Tele-Care 811 to book an appointment.

Public Health has identified a positive case in a traveller who may have been infectious on May 6 while on the following flights:

• Air Canada Flight 396 from Edmonton to Toronto, departed at 6:50 a.m.
• Air Canada Flight 8898 from Toronto to Moncton, departed at 8:43 p.m.

What to do if you have a symptom

People concerned they might haveCOVID-19 symptoms cantake a self-assessment test online.

Public Health says symptoms shown by people withCOVID-19 have included:

• Fever above 38 C.

• New cough or worsening chronic cough.

• Sore throat.

• Runny nose.

• Headache.

• New onset of fatigue, muscle pain, diarrhea, loss of sense of taste or smell.

• Difficulty breathing.

In children, symptoms have also included purple markings on the fingers and toes.

People with one of those symptoms should:

• Stay at home.

• CallTele-Care 811 or their doctor.

• Describe symptoms and travel history.

• Follow instructions.
