A second man has been charged in connection with an attempted murder last month in Moncton.

Jeremy Phillips, 28, will be in court Monday to face charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

He was arrested along with 33-year-old Carl Stultz in Toronto earlier this week.

Stultz has also been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and will be in court to enter a plea on Monday.

A man was beaten and stabbed in an apartment near the downtown then drove himself to hospital before losing consciousness on Feb. 7.

Police said the victim, who was visting a High Street apartment was beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed with a knife. RCMP Const. Michel Mercier said Philips and Stultz fled to Toronto after the beating, and were renting an apartment in the city. "We were able to identify two male suspects in this, from there a Canada-wide warrant was issued."

The two men were arrested by police Wednesday after they were seen driving out of the apartment building parking lot, in a vehicle with New Brunswick licence plates.
