RNC investigate assault at Her Majesty's Penitentiary

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating an alleged assault against aninmate at Her Majesty's Penitentiary in St. John's.

Officers were called to HMP around 1 a.m. Monday.

Police said there was a complaint that aninmate had beenassaulted by other inmates.

However, there is no word on any injuries or how many inmates were involved.

No charges have been laid and the incident is still under investigation.
