Caribou Legs to go back and complete final stretch
Stopped short by snowfall, Brad Firth will double back to Marsh Lake Saturday for final 60 km
The Gwich'in runnerknown as Caribou Legs will go back and complete the last leg of his run from Vancouver to Whitehorse on Saturday.
Brad Firth cut the final stretch of his run into Whitehorse short on Tuesday because of bad weather.
He says the 78-day journey was tough, but he's proud he did it.
It gets lonely some days, some nights, some afternoons it gets discouraging. Some days it's hard to accept, he says.
It was really satisfying to know that all the elders were praying for me and hoping things would come in a good way for me and they did, so I'm really grateful for them.
Firth says he will go back out to Marsh Lake on Saturday and run the roughly 60 kilometres to Whitehorse.
He says he has plans to run the Yukon Arctic Ultra in February.
Firth then plans another run from Vancouver to Ottawa next spring.
The long distance runs are his way to raise awareness about the Peel watershed.
