House fire leaves Arctic Bay family homeless

A house fire in Arctic Bay, Nunavut, on Monday has left a family of seven homeless.

There were no injuries reported.

The fire burned for about four hoursbut was put out before it spread to any adjacent buildings.

Fire Chief Steven Kalluksays the fire started on a bed after a child had been burning tissue paper.

A pump on the crew's fire truck also ignited during the fireand needed to be extinguished before the crew could continue its firefighting efforts.

Kalluksays it was the first fire in the community in several years.
