Iqaluit blizzard winds down, water service restored

Environment Canada has ended its blizzard warning for Iqaluit, although the city is still experiencingreduced visibility and winds gusting to60km/h.

For the second day in a row,the city of Iqaluit suspendednon-emergencymunicipal services on Saturdaydue to blizzard conditions.

Blizzard warnings are still in effect for Arviat, Baker Lake, and the Rankin Region, including Whale Cove.

Water back on

Water has been restored to units2700sand4000sat Tundra Valley and the Road to Nowhere. Ahydrantbreak nearthe Ivavik Building andJoamie School in Iqaluit this morning forced the city to shut off the water while it worked on the problem.
