RCMP investigate sexual assault near Frame Lake Trail

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred near the Frame Lake Trail on Saturdaynight.

Police say the incident occurred in conjunction with a small group partying in the area and the suspect is known to the victim.

Last year, after a string of sexual assaults on and near the trail, a public forum on safety was held with participation fromthe RCMP, Department of Justice, Yellowknife Health and Social Services Authority and the City of Yellowknife.

A follow-up meeting is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7 p.m. atNorthern United Place.

Mayor MarkHeyck says organizations have been brainstorming solutions over the last several months andhe hopes people show up to hear the proposed actions.
