Sheila Bassi-Kellett dismissed as GNWT deputy minister

The Northwest Territories' Deputy Minister of Human Resources has been removed from her position.

Sheila Bassi-Kellett was appointed to the job in November 2011. She previously worked as the Associate Deputy Minister in the same department.

Bassi-Kelletthas worked for the territorial government for years.It's not clear exactly why she was removed from her position.

For now, Michelle Beard, the Director of Corporate Affairs with the territorial government, is acting in her place.

Beard says she's not sure how long she will be in the position.

This isn't the first time the Deputy Minister of Human Resources has beendropped.

In 2008, then-premier Floyd Roland dismissed Lynn Elkin from the position.
