Whitehorse boy waits 2 months for wheelchair fix

A 10-year-old Whitehorse boy who has been waiting more than two months for his electric wheelchair to be fixed may finally be able to get around again.

Lucas Yuill'schair cost $28,000and includes special features,but it's had several problems.

When the motor broke, Lucas's father Richard Yuill says he contacted the sales company and the manufacturer about getting it fixed.

After two months of emails and phone calls, the family was frustrated by the delays.

The manufacturer, Ranger Wheelchairs, told CBC News it's the responsibility of the sales company to deal with warranty, but that it wants to see Lucas back in his chair as soon as possible.

The company hasnow shipped a new motor to Whitehorse.

The owner of the original sales company,Advanced Mobility, told CBC News he wasn't aware of the problem until a few weeks ago and was under the impression a Yukon company was looking after the fix.

Advanced Mobility says it's looking into the situation and is happy to meet with the family.

The Yuills say they're still frustrated it took so long to help Lucas.
