Yellowknife RCMP investigate 2 sexual assaults

Police are investigating two sexual assaults that happened in Yellowknife Tuesday morning.

The first assault happened at about 5 a.m. on the Frame Lake Trail near Somba Ke Park. Police say an unknown male approached a woman from behind, sexually assaulted her and then fled on foot.

The second assault happened at 7 a.m. near Sissons Court. Police say a man entered a residence and sexually assaulted a woman, then fled on foot.

Both victims were treated at Stanton Territorial Hospital.

RCMP say there is nothing to indicate the two incidents are related at this time.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Yellowknife RCMP.
