Pizza warming bag used to steal Halifax pizzeria's cash register
A witness reported the break-in after hearing loud bangs coming from the pizza shop
It didn't take police long to crack a break-in at a Halifax pizza shop that saw a woman smash her way into the restaurant and make off with the cash register tucked inside a delivery bag.
Halifax Regional Police said the woman threw a cinder block through the glass front door of Shadia's Pizza on Gottingen Street around 3:30 a.m. Friday.
Once inside, the woman wasted no time ripping the cash register off the counter and stuffing it inside a largered bag used to keep pizzas warm when out on delivery.
An undisclosed amount of cash was in the register.
Police were called to the sceneafter someone reported hearing loud bangs coming from the pizzeria.
About 20 minutes later, officers tracked down a suspect in the backyard of a home less than100 metres away from the pizza shop.
The 29-year-oldsuspect faces a charge of breaking and entering and one count of breach of probation.
Investigators are trying to determine whether the crime is connected to other recent break-ins.
