Jamie Alan Goreham's release prompts warning from Nova Scotia RCMP

A 42-year-old man described as high-risk offender awaiting trialon additional sex offences is being released from jail, and Nova ScotiaRCMParealerting NovaScotianshe'll be in the community ofBarrington.

According to a news release, RCMP say Jamie Alan Gorehamwill be released from the Calgary Correction Centre on Saturday after completing a sentence for sexual assaults and other offences.

Following his release,Goreham is scheduled to appear in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Shelburne, N.S., on Feb. 5 to set trial dates on additional charges of sexual assault and sexual interference.

RCMP say Goreham will be on probation following his release and subject to court-imposed conditions. Police said they are not seeking further restrictions on his freedom.

The Nova Scotia charges allegedly occurred between Aug. 19 and Sept. 19, 2012.According to court documents,Goreham allegedlycommitted these offences, went out West, committed more offences and was arrested and convicted of the Alberta offences.

Goreham has criminal convictions dating back to 1991 that include sexual assault and sexual interference against girls as young as 14. According to RCMP, he is a high risk to reoffend.

RCMP say Goreham will be on probation for two years and must follow strict conditions that include restrictions on any kind of contact with children under the age of 16. Also, he must abstain from consuming or being in possession of alcohol.

"This information is provided to alert members of the public of his presence in our community so they may take suitable precautionary measures," said police in the release.

"RCMP is warning that any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct will not be tolerated."
