Sister of slain teacher supports police

The sister of a young Nova Scotia woman who was found dead in the trunk of her car four years ago remains hopeful police will catch her killer.

The sister of a young Nova Scotia woman who was found dead in the trunk of her car four years ago remains hopeful police will catch her killer.

Paula Gallant, 36, was a Grade 3 teacher at Beechville Lakeside Timberlea, a Halifax suburban school.

Hercase is just one of 20 unsolvedhomicides in the Halifax area during the past decade.

"If you were to ask me four years ago if I thought we were going to be doing a walk four years later, I would have said, 'Absolutely not,'" said Lynn Gallant-Blackburn, who has organized a community walk every year since her sister's death, including one Saturday in Timberlea.

Gallant-Blackburn said four years is a long time to wait for justice. But she remains hopeful police will catch her sister's killer.

That's why she continues to organize annual events, hoping they might prompt potential witnesses to come forward. Even the slightest bit of new information could crack the case, she said.
