2nd-degree murder charge after Gatineau's 3rd homicide of 2024

A 56-year-old Gatineau man is facing a second-degree murder charge for the death of a man found injured on boulevard des Allumettires Thursday morning.

A 56-year-old Gatineau man is facing a second-degree murder charge for the death of a man found injured on boulevard des Allumettires Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scenenearrue Saint-Rdempteuraround 6:15 a.m. where they found the man with injuries"suggesting he had been the victim of an assault," Gatineau police said in the original news release.

They later said it appeared he had been shot.

The man, later identified as 35-year-oldMaxim Bourgon-Frigon,was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Friday morning, police announced they had arrested a 56-year-old man and 41-year-old woman.

On Friday afternoon they said they'd released the woman. The man, identified asPhilippe Cyr,is facing a second-degree murder charge.
