'3 years is a long time': Keeping the e-gaming issue alive a challenge

The release of the P.E.I. auditor general's report into the province's failed attempt to become an e-gaming centre is big news this week, but opposition parties will face a challenge keeping it that way, says UPEI political scientist Don Desserud.

Jane MacAdam's report found "numerous examples of non-compliance with legislation, policies and controls."

As scathing as the report was, Desserud told CBC's Island Morning, opposition parties will have a difficult time keeping the issue alive in the minds of voters until the next election.

"From the government side, the good news is three years is a long time." he said.

"A lot of this is about process Process stories don't seem to have the same kind of bite that personal stories do."

It will be difficult to keep pressing the issue without bogging down in details, Desserud said.

He also noted much of this information was available during the last provincial election, which the Liberals were still able to win.
